Socialization and Training
As soon as you can, find a reputable trainer. At age 16 weeks, most vets will administer Rabies vaccine. Copy all vaccine records for the trainer as well. They will require it. Discipline, limitations, investment in time and high expectations are what make a great dog. Ask your vet for some names of reputable trainers.
Don’t be afraid! Just have great energy and remember that your pup has no inhibitions or preconceived notions….if you are comfortable so will they be! Praise and affection should be the REWARD for good behavior, not just because they are so darn cute.
I love to have a job, meet other people and dogs. Thank you for making time!
Some Basic Rules for training and Socialization
NO JUMPING
Turn around and show them your backside if they do try to jump. Cross your arms and walk away. In a matter of fact way say “no jumping”.
Do not let Children lie on or tackle hug dogs. Teach children to properly approach and handle dogs.
Let pups experience all of the great things in life, nice people, cats, dogs the ocean, car rides…ferry rides. The more they experiences these things as the norm the more at ease they will be with them as an adult.
